Dr.Samanmalee Kumari Jayawardana

Samanmali Alujjage Don is a sociologist and researcher with a BA (Honours) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, an MRes in Social Science Research Methods from Keele University, UK, and a PhD from the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Essex, UK. Her research focuses on gender, culture, development, and menstrual health, with particular attention to the lived experiences of Malaiyaha women in Sri Lanka. She uses ethnography as a key research method and explores art-based approaches to research dissemination. Her interests include innovative research methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches to sociological understanding, particularly those that connect academic research with creative and community-engaged forms of knowledge.
