Lanka Bandaranayake is a Sri Lankan filmmaker, theatre artist, and actor whose work explores themes of tradition, gender, and contemporary society. She began her career in theatre before moving into cinema, where her short films Tradition (2016), Inheritance(2020), and Mahasona (2021) earned international acclaim at major global film festivals. A Chevening Scholar, she completed her MA in Directing Film & Television at Bournemouth University with distinction. Founder of Lanka Cine (PVT) Ltd., she champions socially responsible filmmaking and women’s empowerment, making her one of Sri Lanka’s most distinctive creative voices.
